A Human Work research initiative

Future of work

Make human contribution observable, attributable, and useful with permission.

The Human Work and Personal IP research project studies how SMEs, creators, workers, and stewards can produce useful evidence through bounded work simulations. It connects task design, observed decisions, stated rationale, corrections, artifacts, and independent review in a versioned Personal IP Packet. Research will examine the usefulness of these records for skills development and organizational learning, and test separately authorized retrieval and evaluation uses through the proposed Syntelos Data Bank connection. Later physical-AI work requires an appropriate embodied dataset and transfer tests; the current simulation evidence does not establish robot-training performance.

The research question

How can a work simulation preserve credible evidence of human expertise while keeping attribution, review, and each permitted use explicit?

Research workstreams

A question. A method. A test.

Simulation validity

Compare an SME’s work model with observed scenario behavior and evaluate the limits of the virtual task.

Contribution and evidence

Test whether Personal IP Packets preserve distinct contributor roles, decision context, corrections, review, and component-level permissions.

Governed reuse

Evaluate matching and retrieval of authorized work evidence; study separate research exports without assuming training rights or automatic compensation.

Intellectual property

Connected IP foundations.

The following proposed uses of existing patents are technical mappings. Spyris Holdings is the underlying license holder; government patent ownership and the applicable license terms remain separate from Human Work’s product and research. Final claim mapping and required approvals must precede licensed use.

Evidence priorities

Make progress measurable.

The initiative is framed around testable questions. Its research direction should be assessed against observed evidence and the limits of each experiment.

  • Agreement between the SME-approved task, observed work, and reviewer interpretation
  • Completeness of contribution lineage, correction history, and permission checks
  • Usefulness for a specified learning or retrieval purpose, with uncertainty and transfer limits reported

Research goals and proposed mechanisms are not established findings. Product-linked tracks describe the research behind a capability, rather than a claim that its hypotheses have been validated.
