A Compacitas research initiative

Federation

Scoped exchange of identity, capabilities, results, and evidence across independently governed AI systems.

Neural Interchange investigates continuity and collaboration across changing models and independently governed agent systems. The documented exchange model carries mission identity, counterpart identity, protocol version, permitted scope, provenance, expiry, and evidence status. The research focus is how selected context and reviewed experience can move without silently transferring authority or private memory. Delivery, acknowledgment, result receipt, and verification are separate states, and imported lessons require their own evidence and applicability checks.

The research question

How can independently governed AI systems exchange useful capability and evidence while preserving local authority, provenance, and privacy?

Research workstreams

A question. A method. A test.

Workstream 01

Typed capability and evidence exchange envelopes

Workstream 02

Identity, consent, expiry, revocation, and counterpart verification

Workstream 03

Cross-system replay and continuity without automatic trust inheritance

Evidence priorities

Make progress measurable.

The initiative is framed around testable questions. Its research direction should be assessed against observed evidence and the limits of each experiment.

  • Counterpart identity and permitted exchange scope
  • Continuity under protocol changes, expiry, and revocation
  • Useful transfer without unintended transfer of authority or private memory

Research goals and proposed mechanisms are not established findings. Product-linked tracks describe the research behind a capability, rather than a claim that its hypotheses have been validated.
